Long history 
According to legend, the Shwedagon Pagoda more than 2,500 history. However, archaeologists estimate the work started was built centuries 6. Architectural treasures 

Spread over 50,000 m2 area, Shwedagon Pagoda was built on the sacred hill Singuttara, with the highest tower of up to 99m. Women in Buddhist Myanmar 

At Shwedagon Pagoda, only monks and men new to the substrate section in the main tower terrace. However, limiting women in religious works is fairly common in Myanmar.

The rule to remember when the pagoda in Myanmar 

Upon entering Shwedagon Pagoda or any public temple in Myanmar, travelers need to remember some important principles. First of all, you can not wear sleeveless shirts and shorts, it is best to dress smartly (not expose the chest, penetrating or not wearing leggings). Also, you need to cover shoulders and knees, remove shoes and socks before entering the temple.

Travelers should avoid making noise, do not turn your back to the Buddha whether to photograph, to respect the monks and local people. Women travelers can not touch monks. If you want to celebrate Mass or donated to the monks, you have to use both hands.
